SEILER
was the first to integrate the new technique of digital sound generation
in its grand and upright pianos. At the unveiling of SEILER's pioneering
DuoVox System in 1987, Steffen Seiler thus announced: "This system
marks the dawn of the renaissance of the good old acoustic piano
sound."
It
was his idea to produce pianos with a mechanical mute system (patented
by SEILER) and an integrated MIDI output that would enable them
to be switched over from acoustic to electronic-assisted playing.
The result was the opening up of a new musical dimension.
The acoustic art of digital sound
AWM
sampling permits the reproduction of the sound of a concert grand.
The pianist hears what he or she is playing through the headphones,
while the piano remains inaudible to everyone else. Nor does this
feature oblige the player to dispense with the advantages of an
acoustic, mechanical instrument. This is because, unlike electronic
pianos, SEILER's DuoVox System retains the characteristic touch
of all SEILER's grands and uprights, as well as their mechanical
precision.
Entering a new dimension
The
upgraded DuoVox Plus permits the control of synthesizers, computers
and other peripheral equipment, too. This means that the player's
acoustic playing can be replaced or supplemented with a digitally
generated orches- tral sound or other sound modules. SEILER's DuoVox
Plus System thus opens up a wide range of musical possibilities
from Baroque music to com- puter-controlled contemporary music.
This
development came hand in hand with the creation of a new in-stru-
ment which enables concert pianists and professional musicians to
practise silently day or night - and that at a professional level.
This instrument, SEILER's EliteTrainer, weighs just 90kg and is
equipped with the action of an original SEILER concert grand as
well as with damping and a precision, mechanical keyboard. All these
features ensure that the dynamics of touch and feeling of the piano
are the same as those of a genuine SEILER grand. Sensitive, stereo
point sampling makes for perfect tonal dynamics audible only through
the headphones.
SEILER's EliteTrainer
and the SEILER DuoVox Plus System combine classic and modern for
all those who do not want to forfeit the masterly accomplishments
of world-class piano-making even in this, the age of computers.
